Virtual Economy, Robert Lewandowski, and Blockchain

In the latest episode of the “Innovators” podcast, we explore the fascinating world of digital transformation, covering everything from early computer games to advanced technologies like blockchain and NFTs. In this episode, you’ll learn about:

The Role of the Virtual Economy and Inspiration from Video Games: For many years, games have provided a platform for virtual economies where players create and exchange digital assets. This has served as a foundation for the development of today’s Metaverse technologies, where interactions and transactions encompass both digital goods and real-world marketing and commerce. The association with games helps make sense of the virtual economy concept, but at the same time, it creates a certain stereotype. Why? If we look at the Metaverse as the next iteration of the internet, it means transitioning from viewing 2D content on a smartphone screen to interacting with 3D content using VR/AR glasses. Instead of looking at a photo of a chair online, we’ll be able to virtually “try it on” in a 1:1 scale and see it in the context of our physical home using such glasses. For this to become commonplace, we need widespread access to virtual reality glasses, and this form of shopping will become an everyday experience.

3D Digital Meetings: We highlight how VR and AR technologies are transforming traditional business and personal meetings. Virtual technologies enable the creation of three-dimensional, realistic interactions that mimic real-life experiences, changing our approach to work and everyday meetings. With technology (such as Apple Vision PRO), if we can move from 2D Zoom and Teams meetings to three-dimensional ones that increasingly resemble real meetings, we’ll find many reasons to meet not just for work, but also to visit virtual shopping malls, attend concerts, or watch sports games together. Again, for this to happen, widespread access to VR glasses is essential. Apple Vision Pro, with its realistic avatars, is still too expensive—but this will change soon.

For those interested in this topic, we have a special episode of “Innovators” dedicated to 3D meetings HERE.

The Vision for the Future of Virtual Connections: The future of digital interactions and the economy is shaped by technologies that offer even more immersive experiences. These innovations allow us to experience events, meetings, and interactions in ways that were previously only possible in reality. Testing products and using services in 3D form will significantly enhance the comfort of remote shopping and boost buyer confidence.

The virtual economy also includes concepts like NFTs, cryptocurrencies, and blockchain. Unfortunately, due to cryptocurrency speculation and the crashes of digital exchanges, blockchain and the role of NFTs are currently overshadowed. Why? Listen to the episode, and you’ll also learn:

  • What NFTs are
  • What blockchain is, using the example of Robert Lewandowski’s transfer to Barcelona 🙂
